Many churches are trying to meet the needs of everyone in the community. They want people with disabilities to have a better experience when they go to church and to make it easier for those with special needs to access religious resources.

 

National Catholic Partnership on Disability
The purpose of this partnership is to make sure that people with disabilities are included in church and society. This site provides you with a newsletter, resources, and Catholic perspectives on disability issues.

 

Disability Concerns - The United Methodist Church
This website contains information and resources for people with physical disabilities and mental challenges, their families and advocates. All of the information on this website is related to the spiritual care of people with disabilities.

 

Bibles in Special Media
Go to this site for Bibles and other sacred writings. These are published in special media for individuals with vision impairments and other related disabilities.

 

Christian Council on Persons with Disabilities
The Christian Council on Persons with Disabilities promotes the spiritual well being of individuals with disabilities. Their website provides a place for leaders to interact and communicate about supporting people with disabilities in their communities.

 

Council for Jews with Special Needs
The Council for Jews with Special Needs serves Jewish children and young adults with disabilities. It is a non-profit agency dedicated to ensuring that all Jews have full access to Jewish religious, cultural, and social life. This website also provides information about family support groups, referral services, and community education.

 

Buddhism Plus Disability: One Step Closer to Nirvana
This article contains some interesting insights into Buddhism and disability. It discusses the major pillars of the Buddhist faith and how they relate to people with disabilities.

2010 Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

Voucher booklets worth $50.00 available to seniors 60 years of age or older with a household annual income of less than $23,051 for single person or $31,006 for a couple.  Vouchers are redeemable for locally-grown fruits and vegetables at any City & County People’s Open Market vendors certified for this program (from June – October 31, 2010).  For more information click here.

New System for Determining The Handi-Van Eligibility

The City and County of Honolulu has implemented a new application system for determining eligibility for TheHandi-Van, the City’s paratransit service for people with disabilities who are unable to independently use TheBus.
