Oahu Workforce Investment Board (OWIB)

OWIB informs job-seekers and laid-off workers about job search assistance, training opportunities and tuition assistance programs. Their website also provides information to employers regarding workforce development and sustainability issues.

Older American Community Services Employment Program (OACSEP)

Provides job training and assistance to low-income adults aged 55 and older.

Financial Assistance and Food Stamps

Hawaii statewide program for financial assistance and food stamps

Social Security

Social Security encompasses several social welfare and social insurance programs.

Home Tax Exemption

Various programs provide relief from home property tax.

Home Repair Loan

This program provides low interest loans to income-qualified owner-occupant homeowners enabling them to repair their homes to meet basic housing quality standards.

Solar Water Heating Loan

Provides financing for installation of solar water heating systems to homes of income-qualified homeowners.

Weatherization Assistance Program

This is an energy efficiency program that helps low-income individuals and families reduce energy consumption and utility costs through free energy saving devices, including solar water heater systems, and energy conservation education.

AlohaMeds prescription assistance

AlohaMeds helps low-income, uninsured Hawaii residents get access to patient assistance programs where they may qualify for free, or nearly free, prescription medicines.

Bus Pass Subsidy

The Honolulu Bus Pass Subsidy program assists people with low income by providing a reduced fare monthly bus pass.

Handivan

The Handi-Van is a public transit service for persons with disabilities who are unable to use the City's bus service, TheBus.

Parking for Persons With Disabilities

A Disability Parking (DP) permit allows you to park the vehicle you drive or the vehicle that transports you in parking spaces reserved for persons with disabilities.

Kupuna Care

A state-sponsored program to meet the needs of frail older adults who cannot live at home without adequate help from family and/or formal services.

BenefitsCheckUp

National online screening tool for benefits programs for people 55 or older with limited income and resources.

2010 Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

Voucher booklets worth $50.00 available to seniors 60 years of age or older with a household annual income of less than $23,051 for single person or $31,006 for a couple.  Vouchers are redeemable for locally-grown fruits and vegetables at any City & County People’s Open Market vendors certified for this program (from June – October 31, 2010).  For more information click here.
