Today's medicines are more complex and powerful than ever before. It is critical for individuals to take medications appropriately and safely.

 

Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER)
The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) is the drug evaluation division of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It ensures that all prescription and over-the-counter drugs are safe and effective. It also assesses all new drugs before they are used clinically and sold at drug stores. CDER monitors more than 10,000 drugs on the market and ensures that they meet the highest standards.

 

Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP)
The Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) is a nonprofit organization working closely with healthcare professionals to provide information about adverse drug events and their prevention.

 

Safemedication.com
The American Society of Health Pharmacists hosts a site called Safemedication.com, featuring complete, easy-to-read information on more than 700 drugs.
