"Take Charge of Your Money3!" Financial Education on TV

"Take Charge of Your Money3!" financial education series begins May 27, 2008, and concludes on
August 14, 2008. The television series will be shown Tuesdays on channel 55 at 12 noon on Oahu, Kauai, and Big Island. It will be rebroadcast throughout the state on the following Thursdays at 12 noon. "Take Charge of Your Money3!" highlights information on important consumer finance topics that everyone should know about.

Family Caregiver Training Series - May and June 2008

Kapi’olani Community College (KCC) offers several series of workshops designed specifically for family caregivers interested in learning skills for the care of their elderly parents, spouse or relative. These workshops are planned by the KCC Kupuna Education Center and are taught by experienced health and elder care educators. This summer one of the series is being offered with more being planned for the Fall Semester.

Located in Nanakuli, at 87-122 Nana’ikeola Street across from the Kaiser Permanente clinic, the first phase of Nana’ikeola Senior Apartments is tentatively scheduled for initial placement in April 2008. This phase will include 40 one bedroom units.

The first phase of Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Nana’ikeola Senior Apartments is a HUD-subsidized Section 202 property. Interested applicants must be 62 years of age or older and have an annual household income within the limits listed below:

1) Person Household - $26,100
2) Person Household - $29,800
3) Person Household - $33,550

Note: Income limits are published annually by the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development and are subject to change. The above are 2007 income limits.

For this phase only, tenant rent will be based on 30% of the household monthly adjusted income.

Series II: The Basics of Family Caregiving; Wake Up, Work Out! (New Class); and Ohana Chronicles: Documenting History (New Class).

How Does Your Car Fit? CARFIT: Helping Mature Drivers Find Their Perfect Fit

Friday, January 4, 2008, 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Kapiolani Community College Parking Lot D. Trained professionals will lead licensed drivers age 65 and older through a 15-minute, 12-point checklist with your vehicle and recommend vehicle adjustments and adaptations that could make your vehicle “fit” better and enhance your safety.
