Description:
The State Office of Veterans Affairs serves as a liaison between the Governor and veterans' organizations and between the VA and individual veterans. Assists vets in obtaining State and federal entitlements, current information on veteran's issues and provides support to veterans transitioning to civilian life. Benefits include: burial allowance/benefits, compensation or pension disability benefits, dependents and survivors benefits, education and training, government life insurance, home loans, special needs (homeless, minority, women, ex-POW, elderly veterans, military and recently separated veterans), survivor and dependents education, vocational rehabilitation. Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4 pm (except federal holidays). Target group: veterans and their dependents. Eligibility: veterans, priority given to those with service connected injuries. Application process: Phone or walk-in. Documentation needed: discharge certificates, form DD214, marriage certificates, birth certificates of children, VA claim number, SSN. Fees: Generally no charge. Medical co-pay possible. Languages: French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish. Accessibility: accommodations for disabled.
